Demand Planner

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the demand planning and replenishment processes of assigned GNC Partner Business/Intercompany accounts. This position works closely with various contacts, both internal and external, on a day-to-day basis including customers, manufacturing, vendors, and sales distribution. Responsibilities also include order and inventory management, order fulfillment along with analyzing existing processes for continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Intercompany customers to create and maintain accurate forecasts to support sales and meet customer service metrics
  • Manage the replenishment process of Intercompany accounts to maximize service levels
  • Maintain a complete working knowledge of internal and external replenishment systems needed to manage assigned accounts. This should include involvement in the implementation of upgrades/new releases, provide training as needed, and documenting new departmental procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between Sales, Product Development, Manufacturing, Distribution and Transportation
  • Serve as primary Customer Service contact for assigned accounts
  • Manage finished goods inventory levels of assigned accounts
  • Participate and monitor new item development process as well as revisions to existing products
  • Manage new product launches as well as transitions with existing products
  • Perform ongoing analysis to determine best standard batch quantities, minimum order quantities, lead times, and safety stocks. Minimize use of unique bulks to optimize cost, service, and prevent obsolescence
  • Manage and maintain buying process for products from internal and external vendors. Monitor product deliveries and follow-up to ensure deliveries are on time and resolve any issues impeding this process
  • Provide external vendors with forecast for projected order needs
  • Perform periodic analysis of inventory, forecast and orders to determine root causes of voids in the supply chain
  • Identify slow selling items for possible discontinuation and possible revisions to batch sizes
  • New item and new Intercompany customer project management, including processing new item set up paperwork, label initiation, tracking progress of artwork, system item set-up and maintenance
  • Monitor and maintain system order lead times to ensure proper timing of deliveries. Provide order lead times and minimum order quantities on demand
  • Customer service functions; monitor Intercompany customer orders to ensure quantities and prices are correct and meet minimum order quantities and lead time requirements. Communicate discrepancies and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Communicate supply issues with customers and provide timing and availability for resolution. Identify and communicate critical items / out-of-stock items
  • Flexibility to multitask in a challenging environment
  • Strive to meet on-time delivery performance goals as established. Make recommendations to improve performance

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • 5+ years as a Demand Planning, Forecasting, Replenishment with customer service responsibilities or related experience preferred
  • Prior CPFR, VMI, ERP, JDA and Prescient systems experience preferred
  • Previous experience in vitamin and nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals or similar product lines preferred
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
