Planning Manager

Job Summary

The Planning Manager is responsible for driving profitable, omni-channel marketing programs for specific categories and brands within GNC that are aligned to corporate strategy and budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional partners (Merchandising, Marketing, Science, Field Ops, Legal) to conceptualize and implement category-specific strategies that drive sales and engagement within designated budget.
  • Initiate business briefs for marketing campaigns, defining over-arching campaign objectives, product focus, promotion and success metrics, and being sure to align with key business partners on needs and info, including (but not limited to) Merchant and Science teams.
  • Partner with Content team to define effective and engaging campaign stories and to develop supporting content framework.
  • Compile and document campaign plans as well as post mortem summaries to be shared across the organization.
  • Meet regularly with Merchandising and Marketing partners to refine and optimize weekly / monthly plans based on changing business needs, priorities and on-going learnings.
  • Work with Operations, Creative team and Copy writers to kick off projects and ensure objectives are met.
  • Work with Field Operations team to ensure that campaign direction is communicated to the field and that field training is aligned with Marketing activity.
  • Partner with Operations team to define process and efficiencies.
  • Manage campaign documents and calendars.

Job Specifications

  • Exceptional strategic planning skills coupled with very strong execution and project management skills.
  • Strong experience with driving omni-channel sales and traffic.
  • Ability to develop customer insight (e.g. research, database analytics) and convert into action. Experience with marketing analytics tools such as Domo, Acxiom Liveramp or Tableau, and business intelligence tools like MicroStrategy is helpful.
  • Solid understanding of cross channel marketing needs, trends, innovations, technology and how to drive consumer engagement.
  • Experience working with retail merchandising teams to determine and understand their specific needs; ability to effectively formulate these needs into detailed plans.
  • An excellent team player with a strong ability to collaborate.
  • Strong project manager with highly effective organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Comprehension of financial data and budgets, ability to determine ROI and accurately measure success on all projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.

    5-10 years of Marketing experience with an emphasis on marketing planning
