Job Summary:

Lead overall business partnerships and negotiation strategy to maximize growth opportunities for GNC. Drive overall improvement in procurement process, execution across entire vendor base and operational metrics in the vendor supply chain, including fill rate, on-time ship, vendor margins and EDI compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and coordinate consistent strategic approach and business rules for vendor management to facilitate more productive business partnerships and negotiations
  • Lead training of our merchant and inventory planning team to develop strong negotiation skills
  • Ensure that vendors meet or exceed their contractual obligations
  • Analyze, monitor and review vendors’ financial and operational performances
  • Work cross functionally with category merchants, buyers, and replenishment in understanding and developing action plans based on identified areas of improvement
  • Support merchant team with new vendor inductions, performance management and vendor communication
  • Generate, monitor and provide insight to merchants and buyers on vendor scorecards
  • Create and manage joint business plans for top strategic vendor partners in conjunction with the merchant and inventory planning team

Job Specifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in merchandising, business partnership and vendor negotiation leadership

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience in vendor management and the related skills of budget control, performance analysis and contract management
  • Understanding of retail merchandising basics (ie, category management), and merchandising organizational structures and processes
  • Excellent negotiation and collaborative skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient skill level in Microsoft Excel , Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of Merchant and Inventory Planning leadership
  • Team oriented with excellent time management and organization skills
  • Customer service oriented with ability to maintain positive attitude in all situatuation
