Job Summary

The associate chemist is responsible for the timely assay of routine testing for raw materials, finished products and stability samples utilizing current cGMPs, cGLPs, SOPs, and current laboratory instrumentation. The associate chemist supports method development, validations, and other special projects, as requested. The associate chemist performs other basic laboratory duties, as directed. This is a second shift position. The hours are Monday - Thursday: 1:30p - 10p and Friday: 12:30p - 9p.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to comprehend and perform HPLC and GC analyses
  • Demonstrate ability to train wet chemistry testing
  • Perform physical and chemical analysis of incoming finished products, stability samples, raw materials, and non-routine samples
  • General lab duties as assigned, i.e. replenish test reagents, clean lab, wash glassware, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and calibration verifications on various equipment
  • Support method development, validations, and other special projects as requested
  • Gather, interpret, and review analytical data
  • Clean assigned areas of the lab and maintain audit ready status
  • Ability to function effectively at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Proven leadership skills including the ability to coach, assess, evaluate, develop, motivate, and empower others
  • Strong change management skills to challenge the status quo and drive improvements
  • High ethical standards

Job Specifications



  • 1 years analytical lab experience


  • 2 years in a cGMP dietary supplement manufacturing environment.


  • BS (4 year degree) in chemistry or related science

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have experience in HPLC, GC, ICP or ICP-MS.
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of spectroscopy and general wet chemical procedures.
  • Ability and desire to produce quality work in a quality environment.
  • Excellent writing, communication, computer, & math skills required
  • Must have knowledge of how to work safely with and around chemicals and their potential hazardsPhysical Demands:

May be required to lift up to 40 lbs

There may be long periods of standing while prepping samples/reagents/standards

There may also be long periods of time spent sitting when analyzing data and completing paperwork

Personal Protective Equipment:

Lab coat, safety glasses, gloves. At times there may be a need to wear a full length apron when working with concentrated acids and bases

Work Environment:

The work is done in a laboratory environment, hazardous chemicals are present and must have the knowledge and ability to work safely in this environment. Must wear the required PPE and know how to use available safety equipment provided, i.e hoods, safety showers, and eye washes.
