Job Summary

The Brand Manager of GNC Pets is responsible for working with the Director of Partner Business to strategically manage the development, implementation, and execution of the GNC Pets business to maximize sales and margin while growing brand equity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Assist in planning and implementation of planograms and store layouts that support the various partner businesses and maximize retail sales. This will include but is not limited to product assortment and in store graphics.
    • Participate in execution of the PetSmart promotional plans including recommending and proofing product selection, promotional pricing and signage while maintaining both GNC and partner margin objectives.
    • Work with PetSmart and Director of Partner Business to drive comprehensive line review process for major seasonal sets
    • Responsible for representing GNC Pets brand at trade shows, conferences and related opportunities
    • Instrumental in bringing in new business to the GNC Pets by identifying new partners, selecting product assortment and setting up new accounts to sell GNC Pets products.
    • Work with Director of Partner Business, PetSmart, Product Development, and Science teams to create, manage, and drive product innovation and development process
    • Develop internal relationships with various GNC departments to support partner business initiatives.
    • Responsible for all product samples and coordinating communication between customer and internal Buying team
    • Manages product set up and maintenance in GNC internal system (Cambar) and external customer systems
    • Responsible for planning, tracking, reviewing and approving Social Media plans
    • Responsible for interfacing with external customer team and internal stakeholders to review and approve all appropriate creative development
    • Responsible for planning email promotional cadence in conjunction with customer account team and detailing item-level content
    • Works with Manager of Analytics, Licensing and Business Development to proactively manage obsolete inventory report and ensures constant alignment between internal GNC teams and external account team
    • Develops new product concept sheets for Product Development that are consistent with customer and market needs as well as internal margin hurdles
    • Facilitates all image needs and requests for partner websites and gnc.com
    • Work with outside vendor on incremental inventory opportunities such as clip strips and end caps
    • Manages all payment requests for manufacturers
    • Manages new product information sheets for Canada
      • Updates, tracks and analyzes quarterly NASC sales reports and provides appropriate product recommendations
      • Responsible for competitive product assortment reviews within the Pet nutrition and supplements industry in other retailers
      • Within PetSmart, responsible for proactively managing both GNC and competition assortment and compiling appropriate reporting and recommendations for GNC and PetSmart management teams

Job Specifications

  • Experience / Training Required
    • 4 – 6 years’ experience working in Merchandising, Brand Management, Product Management and / or Category Management

  • Skills and Abilities
    • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be a strategic thinker who possesses the ability to build cross functional partnerships
    • Must be capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently and display poise under fire
    • Proactive thinker who works collaboratively to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate potential risks in the business
    • Must be comfortable negotiating with external and internal partners
    • Honest and trustworthy in dealings with both internal and external partners
    • Previous experience in Merchandising or Brand Management
    • Analytical abilities and comfort with presenting data in a compelling way
    • Passion for the GNC Pets business and a desire to help drive its growth
